The first team squad for next season continues to be strengthened with the news that Stacey Freeman will start the season with The Rooks. As many will know, Stacey ended last season on trial at Crawley Town, a just reward for some strong performances at the heart of the Lewes defence. The Reds weren’t the only club that had their eye on Stacey and he received a number of offers to play at a higher level next season, before agreeing to stay on at The Pan.
“I know that Stacey is my son but I think him and Alex Malins gave us a strong defensive base in the last third of the season and I am delighted that he has agreed to re-join,” Manager Darren Freeman said.“We’ve now retained the spine of the team, so we will go into next season with the same confidence that we had in the last three months of the campaign and which made us very hard to beat.”
In other news, George Landais has stepped up his rehabilitation and although we are unlikely to see him on the pitch before October, his progress after his operation has been encouraging and we all look forward to seeing him back in the red and black before too long.
