Darren adds to firepower plus news of our first Pre-season Friendlies

Darren has added to the striking options for the Rooks for next season by snapping up young centre-forward Dean Bown.  Dean was with us in Pre-season last year, scoring the winner in the game at Worthing before a knee injury a few weeks later sidelined him for the campaign.  The former Eastbourne Borough and Met Police striker adds further attacking intent to an already strong squad.

“I’ve been a big fan of Dean since I saw him at Eastbourne Borough as a youngster.  He has pace, strong on the ball and good in the air.  His injury last summer denied Lewes of a goal-scorer and I’m sure they won’t have to wait long before the fans see what they missed.” Darren commented on the news that Dean has signed earlier this week.

In other news we can announce the first of our Pre-Season games.  Dulwich Hamlet will come to The Pan on Saturday 16th July whilst we will be travelling to play Peacehaven & Telscombe in the Supporters Direct Shield on Wednesday 20th July and Burgess Hill Town on Saturday 6th August, kick off 3pm.

Dulwich Hamlet once again missed out on promotion through the Play-offs after finishing the season in 5th place.  They lost in the final away at East Thurrock United and will be hoping next season they can go one better.

Our previous Supporters Direct Shield game saw us beat Fisher back in 2012 at Enfield Town 1-0 and with Peacehaven & Telscombe on the road to converting to a Community Club it is an ideal time to see if we can claim the first piece of silverware of the season.

On Saturday 6th August we will make the short trip to face Burgess Hill Town.  The Hillians survived relegation from the Ryman League Premier Division thanks to Farnborough’s enforced demotion and Ian Chapman will be hoping for a much stronger offering next season.  Town also did the double over us last season so this will be a good test for both sides.

More Pre-Season Friendly news and squad additions will be announced in the next few days.
