Jones and Brotherton join the Rooks whilst Captain Cotton re-signs

Days after announcing the first signings for next season, Darren has been busy securing the services of more players.

Midfield anchorman Lloyd Cotton will once again be terrorising the centre of the park for the Rooks in 2016/17 after committing for a further season.  Lloyd made 24 appearances for the Rooks last season, scoring once in the game against Hendon at The Pan.  Lloyd will be joined in the squad of midfielders by former Peacehaven & Telscombe and Burgess Hill Town wide-man Josh Jones and Jamie Brotherton who joins from Three Bridges.

Josh trained with the Rooks for a period last season before taking a break from football but is reknown for his dead-ball skills and eye for goal.  Jamie has played for a number of Ryman League clubs in Sussex and has always delivered goals.

Darren was very pleased to have agreed terms with all three for next season – “I’ve been an admirer of Josh for a long time – there is no secret in that and I had hoped to get him into our squad last season.  He’s now coming back fitter and stronger and he will deliver goals from midfield for us. Jamie is a proven goal-scorer from midfield and that’s what we have lacked. Both are local players which again is very important to us as a club.

We know that to be challenging at the top end of the table we will probably need half a dozen players who will score double figures for us next season and I can see Josh and Jamie doing that.

Lloyd has always given 110% for me and the club and it is brilliant news that he will be in the red and black shirt next season once again.”

More news on how the squad is taking shape will be announced in the next few days.
