Steve Eke’s Development Squad take on Worthing U21s in Tuesday’s Sussex Intermediate Challenge Cup final at the Sussex FA Headquarters at Culver Road, Lancing, BN15 9AX with a 7.15pm kick off. Adults are £5, OAPs £3 and U16s Free.
The Sussex Intermediate Challenge Cup provides reserve and U21 teams and those first teams below Southern Combination Division One a chance to pit their wits against each other for a chance to contest the historic trophy in April at Culver Road. Southwick won last season’s trophy, to complete a league and cup double, with a 1-0 win over Arundel Reserves.
The route to the semi final has been a long one for Lewes which started back in September with six tough rounds successfully negotiated. They came in the way of wins against Rotherfield, Ferring, Midhurst and Easebourne Reserves, Lindfield, Bosham and Pagham Reserves with 18 goals scored and only 5 conceded. Top scorer for the Rooks in the competition with 3 goals is Academy striker Lucas Tredrea while midfielder George Laughlin has popped up with a couple of vital strikes.
Our West Sussex rivals will be very tough opponents as they have already secured the Ryman U21s League South title, scoring 79 goals in the process, with Jared Rance sitting on top of the league’s goalscoring charts with 20 goals this season. Their route to the final as been equally tough and have enjoyed wins against Storrington Reserves, Ditching, Burgess Hill Town U21s, Willingdon Athletic and Haywards Heath Reserves.
Please make the short trip across to Lancing on Tuesday night to cheer on the lads!
