Lewes Ladies FC Race Night with Spectrum Eyecare

Lewes Ladies FC Race Night with Spectrum Eyecare

Lewes FC hosted a fun and fabulous evening at the Rook Inn with principal Lewes Ladies FC sponsors, Spectrum Eyecare. Race Night consisted of nine pre-recorded horse races, with numbers and names assigned to the horses. Each race was sponsored, with a main prize up for grabs.

Race-goers could then back any number of horses in each race, the pot for each race split between club and winner(s). Winning horses included Secretaries’ Choice, Over The Rainbow, Big Baz and Rook’n’Roll.

The Spectrum team included Lewes Branch Manager Keri Davies, Leightons Director Krish Hawabhay and Dispensing Opticians Angela Whitney, Sarah Daniels and Jo Taylor. It looked as if the sponsors might miss out on the big prizes, until Angela romped home on Specular Icare in the last race of the night. Lord Chunky swept the very well-backed Auction Race, winning the cash prize on Chunky’s Scoreboard before generously auctioning 6 tickets to see some very real racing at Lingfield Park.

Keri Davies, a life-long Swansea City (and Scarlets rugby) fan, enthused about the relationship between Spectrum and Lewes Ladies FC. ‘It’s so important to have these connections with our community. Spectrum are proud to be associated with one of the country’s leading FAWPL teams.’

Great fun was had by all. Thanks to Tote Manager Barry Haffenden and Race Caller Dave Cole, Carol Joy, Jackie Gilligan, Jane Roberts and the Lewes Ladies team who came out in numbers to support the event. The club raised over GBP 700 on the night.
