Steve Eke’s Development Squad head into Saturday’s Sussex Intermediate Challenge Cup semi final with Pagham Reserves full of confidence, with the young Rooks currently s sitting 5th in the Ryman U21s South table.
The Sussex Intermediate Challenge Cup provides reserve and U21 teams and those first teams below Southern Combination Division One a chance to pit their wits against each other for a chance to contest the historic trophy in April at Culver Road. Southwick won last season’s trophy, to complete a league and cup double, with a 1-0 win over Arundel Reserves.
The route to the semi final has been a long one for Lewes which started back in September with five tough rounds successfully negotiated. They came in the way of wins against Rotherfield, Ferring, Midhurst and Easebourne Reserves, Lindfield and Bosham with 16 goals scored and only 4 conceded. Top scorer for the Rooks in the competition with 3 goals is Academy striker Lucas Tredrea and pacey winger Max Howell, while midfielder George Laughlin has popped up with a couple of vital strikes.
Our West Sussex opponents will not be underestimated though and they are also enjoying a fine season, currently sitting top of the Southern Combination Reserve Section (West) and are unbeaten in 12 games, scoring 81 goals in the process. Their route to the final as been equally tough and have enjoyed wins against Upper Beeding, Chichester City Reserves, Roffey and Cowfold.

Kick off is at 3pm and admission is just £3 for adults and U16s go free plus the bar and food hatch will be open.
