The Rookettes played their first friendly against National Premier League side Charlton Athletic on Sunday in front of 80 supporters at the Dripping Pan.
Despite tough opposition and a few players missing the squad performed really well and showed the usual character we have come to respect so much.
Steph Carter opened the scoring with a fantastic 30 yard shot similar to the one she got in last season’s FA Cup.
Charlton had lots of possession but the Rookettes worked their socks off to limit goal scoring opportunities and had a few chances themselves.
Lewes were unfortunate on the equalizer after a great save, Charlton reacted quicker to slot the ball in from close range. No doubt about their 2nd a clear penalty but Lewes should have got one too when Spice was up-ended in the box!
The new additions have settled in really well and played their part yesterday and will be great assets to this squad.

Next up is Portsmouth at Newlands School in Seaford, kick off 2pm on Sunday.
